I have around 20 copies from a run of 240 left … I don’t expect these to be around very long.

After a short rest all my energy will now go into The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Shadows … everything is just about finished (truly fantastic colour wrap-cover art by the ever brilliant Paul Lowe ~ based on “Oh, Whistle, and I’ll Come to You, My Lad” by M.R. James). Once I decide on run, price, extras etc I will post details here and mail everyone. Give me a week or so.

Cheers, Robert.

TITLE UPDATE

A Certain Slant of Light ~ ghost stories by PETER BELL is with my printer and on schedule for an end of May delivery.
I'll be heading to Wales as soon as the book is delivered to pack up and post out all orders.
For full title details see the post immediately below this one … don't hang about if you want a copy as pre-publication demand so far suggests this one may be out of print rather quickly despite a rather substantial increase in the print run.
I hope to announce details of The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Shadows after I've returned to France and had a short breather.
Cheers, Robert.

NEW TITLE BREAKING NEWS

The word has gone out about a couple of 2012 Sarob Press projects which I’ve not yet formally announced so I’d just like to mention that (subject to contracts, paperwork etc) I’ll be publishing the following volumes this year:

May 2012 … A Certain Slant of Light ghost stories by Peter Bell. This volume presents eight Jamesian ghost stories (three previously unpublished). Full details should be posted within the next two to three weeks.

September 2012 … The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Shadows. Collects the winner and runners-up in the Ghosts & Scholars MR James Newsletter prequel/sequel competition. Line up (including the MR James story inspiration):
“Alberic de MaulĂ©on” by Helen Grant (“Canon Alberic's Scrap-book”)
“Anningley Hall, Early Morning” by Rick Kennett (“The Mezzotint”)
“The Mezzotaint” by John Llewellyn Probert (“The Mezzotint”)
“Quis est Iste” by Christopher Harman (“Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad”)
“The Guardian” by Jacqueline Simpson (“The Treasure of Abbot Thomas”)
“Between Four Yews” by Reggie Oliver (“A School Story”)
“The Mirror of Don Ferrante” by Louis Marvick (“Casting the Runes”)
“Fire Companions” by Mark Valentine (“Two Doctors”)
“Of Three Girls and of Their Talk” by Derek John (“Wailing Well”)
“The Gift” by C.E. Ward (“The Experiment”)
“Malice” by David A. Sutton (“The Malice of Inanimate Objects”)
“Glamour of Madness” by Peter Bell (“A Vignette”)

This book will be edited & introduced by Rosemary Pardoe.

This is an exciting and terrific line-up and full and confirmed details will be posted as soon as I can tie up the paperwork etc on this one.

If you would like full details of these titles as announced then just drop me an email at sarobpress@gmail.com and I’ll add your details to our mailings.

And, don’t forget, our next volume Flame & Other Enigmatic Tales by Maynard Sims (currently with our printer) is due at the very end of this month – or within a day or two of the months end. I plan to travel to Wales late next week to pack and post out all pre-publication orders. Still some copies left of this one … but don’t hang about if you want a copy – our last three titles sold out pre-publication or within a very few days of publication.

Finally, if all goes to plan, there’ll be a further Sarob Press book out before Christmas 2012 … volume 8 in the popular and collectable “Mistresses of the Macabre” series (edited & introduced by Richard Dalby) will be Not to be Taken at Bed-Time & other strange stories by Rosa Mulholland.

It’s going to be a busy and exciting year!

Cheers, Robert.

MAYNARD SIMS: FLAME & other enigmatic tales

All pre-publication orders for A Bracelet of Bright Hair by Jane Jakeman have now been posted. As of today (17/10/11) there are just around a dozen or so copies left – so if you haven't ordered the Jakeman and want it then I urge you to buy your copy quickly to avoid disappointment. See earlier blog entry below (dated Friday 29 July 2011) or e-mail me for details.

I'm now pleased to announce details of our January 2012 title:

Maynard Sims: Flame & other enigmatic tales

Six darkly enigmatic and chilling stories make up Maynard Sims fourth Sarob Press collection – their first since Falling Into Heaven (2004). Here you will find two novellas – the sequel to their well-received novella “Moths” (see Echoes of Darkness) and a spooky tale of life and death – and what comes after – set in and around the variety theatre of the 1950s. There are also four shorter but no less haunting tales – one of which is a new “Dept 18” adventure. Five of the six stories are original to this collection and the sixth has been fully revised.
Len Maynard & Mick Sims are the authors of the novels Shelter, Demon Eyes, Black Cathedral and Night Souls and the Sarob Press collections Shadows At Midnight (1999), Echoes of Darkness (2000) and Falling Into Heaven (2004).
Stories: “Double Act” “Serenity” “Jealousy” “Assignment” “Fallen” & “Flame”
With an afterword by Maynard Sims. Illustrations by Paul Lowe.
Limited Edition Hardcover. Printed Boards. Edition limited to 150 hand numbered copies.
Limitation will be reviewed if pre-publication interest suggests a larger print run is appropriate.

2012 is shaping up to be an exciting year with (possibly) three further titles lined up – subject to contracts etc, etc – including – if all goes to plan – a new volume (number 8) in Richard Dalby's “Mistresses of the Macabre” series of collections by Victorian women ghost story writers. These have always proved to be very popular with early volumes (all 7 Sarob Press “mistresses” are long out of print) advertised at seriously frightening prices on the internet.

Cheers, Robert.
