KING SATYR HAS ARRIVED

KING SATYR by RON WEIGHELL has arrived.

It really looks and feels great.

I was able to post UK and Book-Dealer pre-orders whilst in Wales last week.

I am now back in France and am busy packing up European, USA and Rest of the World copies ready to start shipping as soon as possible once the Christmas holidays are over (hopefully avoiding the postal madness this season usually brings).

I will, of course, get all your orders posted as fast as one person realistically can. But, please be patient folks, as my post-mistress can only take around 25 packages each day.

I’d like to wish a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all ... let’s hope for a better 2022.

And Very Many Thanks everyone for your continued support. Cheers, Robert.

KING SATYR (a novel) by RON WEIGHELL ~ NEW TITLE NEWS

KING SATYR (a novel) by RON WEIGHELL

Nearly twenty five years in the making, Sarob Press is absolutely honoured and thrilled to, at long last, present KING SATYR, a novel by RON WEIGHELL. Ron first mentioned the novel in his introduction to the Ghost Story Press edition of his collection THE WHITE ROAD (1997) and, when Ron sadly passed away in December of last year, he left the novel almost* complete.

*there are a very few small sections which Ron told Fran he might have expanded slightly, but missing these, in no way, hampers the story or the otherwise smooth flow of the novel.

In Ron's Afterword to KING SATYR he shares a discovery from his research into Mayan folk magic:  ‘...there is an animal companion or familiar, associated with the Shamanistic opening of the portals of the Underworld, called the Wahy or Weyhel. One of the most powerful forms of the Weyhel is the Scribano, or writer. This kind of Weyhel is considered immortal, because even after death he can create himself anew with a piece of paper. He can reinvent himself by writing himself into existence.’

Ron’s wife Fran has, with help and input from author Mark Valentine and Robert Morgan of Sarob Press, worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition and to present it in a beautiful edition for the author's very many admirers. Featuring characters who will be familiar to fans of THE WHITE ROAD, this Austin Osman Spare inspired Alphonsus Gaunt/Nicholas Hallam novel, charting the occult and pagan history and experiences of mystic seeker Cyrus Burton, and mostly set in the darkly satanic 1960s/1970s, is presented in a Sewn Hardcover Edition which, we hope, Ron would have very much approved of.

Titling font, and all the art by NICK MALORET, were chosen and agreed upon with Ron and Fran before he sadly passed away.

Introduced by Fran Weighell. Afterword by Ron Weighell. Includes a detailed Bibliography of Ron’s writings.

KING SATYR is a large Royal sized (234x156mm) Hand Numbered Limited Edition Jacketed Hardcover. Lithographically Printed on Quality Cream Bookwove Paper, Bound in Wibalin Cloth (Fine Linen Style), Section Sewn binding, Foil Blocked to Spine, Coloured Endpapers & Head/Tailbands. Approx 176pp including prelims, introduction, afterword and author bibliography etc.

Publication currently scheduled for the end November/early December 2021.

I’m expecting very high demand for this book and recommend orders/reservations are placed promptly to avoid any possible disappointment.

SACRED AND PROFANE ~ NEW TITLE NEWS

SACRED AND PROFANE
by PETER BELL

Sarob Press is pleased to present an ‘all new’ collection of stories (including two novelettes) by the ever-excellent Peter Bell, whose stories have been collected previously in four ‘out of print’ hardcover volumes: Strange Epiphanies (Swan River Press, 2012), A Certain Slant of Light, Phantasms and Revenants & Maledictions (all Sarob Press, 2012, 2015 and 2018). Peter’s novella “Labyrinth” was written for The Pale Illuminations (Sarob Press, 2019) and The Light Inaccessible, his most recent book (Zagava, 2021), is a volume of personal reflections inspired by a love of wandering the Scottish Isles.

County Donegal during the Irish Potato Famine. A Northumberland Priory. The Yorkshire Wolds in a heat-wave. The environs of a Liverpool suburban park. The Scottish Highlands in midwinter. A religious shrine in the Pyrenees. Communist Eastern Europe. In these troubled settings the protagonists are possessed by a sinister genius loci. In all these stories the characters struggle with terrors sacred and profane.

All seven tales are original to this volume.

Stories: Lullaby / The Ice House / The Shadow of the Cross / Haunted / A Wee Dram for the Road / Stigmata / The Strange Death of Sophie van der Wielen

SACRED AND PROFANE is a Deluxe Hand Numbered Limited Edition Jacketed Hardcover. FINDING YOURSELF IN THE DARK HAS ARRIVED

All 350 copies of Finding Yourself in the Dark by Steve Duffy have, at last, touched down here in stormy France.

I’d like to apologise to everyone who has been waiting on publication for the delay with this one.

I had a couple of minor issues with the dust jacket proof which set me back a few days, and my printer has been very busy and has taken a couple of weeks or so longer than usual.

I’ll now work very hard to get all pre-publication orders (around 330 of the 350 are currently spoken for) checked, numbered, packed and posted as fast as humanly possible.

But please remember, Sarob Press is just me and that things will take a bit longer than usual ... thanks to Brexit I now have to complete and attach two separate forms of customs paperwork to each packet (or parcel) leaving France for destinations outside the EU (and one has to be filled in online and then printed); and my local post mistress tells me that, as all these must now be scanned and input separately (and she’s also on her own and only open mornings), she can probably only handle around 20-25 packets/parcels from me each day.

So, please be extra patient.

I will get there ... many thanks for your understanding.

Keep safe everyone.

Cheers, Robert.

Also currently available (but both low stock) is Their Dark & Secret Alchemy (novellas by Richard Gavin, Colin Insole and Damian Murphy) and Legionnaire (a signed stand-alone ghostly novella by C.E. Ward with quite amazing ~ and terrifying (see here) ~ wrap-jacket art by the brilliant Paul Lowe).
