MAYNARD SIMS: FLAME & other enigmatic tales
All pre-publication orders for A Bracelet of Bright Hair by Jane Jakeman have now been posted. As of today (17/10/11) there are just around a dozen or so copies left – so if you haven't ordered the Jakeman and want it then I urge you to buy your copy quickly to avoid disappointment. See earlier blog entry below (dated Friday 29 July 2011) or e-mail me for details.
I'm now pleased to announce details of our January 2012 title:
Maynard Sims: Flame & other enigmatic tales
Six darkly enigmatic and chilling stories make up Maynard Sims fourth Sarob Press collection – their first since Falling Into Heaven (2004). Here you will find two novellas – the sequel to their well-received novella “Moths” (see Echoes of Darkness) and a spooky tale of life and death – and what comes after – set in and around the variety theatre of the 1950s. There are also four shorter but no less haunting tales – one of which is a new “Dept 18” adventure. Five of the six stories are original to this collection and the sixth has been fully revised.
Len Maynard & Mick Sims are the authors of the novels Shelter, Demon Eyes, Black Cathedral and Night Souls and the Sarob Press collections Shadows At Midnight (1999), Echoes of Darkness (2000) and Falling Into Heaven (2004).
Stories: “Double Act” “Serenity” “Jealousy” “Assignment” “Fallen” & “Flame”
With an afterword by Maynard Sims. Illustrations by Paul Lowe.
Limited Edition Hardcover. Printed Boards. Edition limited to 150 hand numbered copies.
Limitation will be reviewed if pre-publication interest suggests a larger print run is appropriate.

2012 is shaping up to be an exciting year with (possibly) three further titles lined up – subject to contracts etc, etc – including – if all goes to plan – a new volume (number 8) in Richard Dalby's “Mistresses of the Macabre” series of collections by Victorian women ghost story writers. These have always proved to be very popular with early volumes (all 7 Sarob Press “mistresses” are long out of print) advertised at seriously frightening prices on the internet.
Cheers, Robert.

TITLE NEWS UPDATE
Sarob Press has decided to issue the recently announced A Bracelet of Bright Hair by JANE JAKEMAN in early/mid October – a month earlier than originally scheduled – and to slightly delay the originally scheduled “second” November title until December or (possibly – as the post can be quite tricky around Christmas) early January. I will shortly set the final print run for the Jakeman volume – so, if you've yet to order/reserve this book then please do so as soon as possible as pre-publication sales have been quite healthy and I'd hate for anyone to miss out. Our December/January book is nearing completion and will be announced in a very few weeks. Some of you may have been waiting for the second title announcement before ordering the Jakeman – please accept my apologies for any inconvenience.
Cheers, Robert.

A BRACELET OF BRIGHT HAIR

WATCH THIS SPACE !!!
Just a quick apology for the lack of posts. I've been madly busy working on the next Sarob Press title/s and renovating a small cottage (originally a ruin) in our grounds - indeed, the last fortnight to a month has been spent repairing walls and putting on a new roof (woodwork and slates) ... often seeing me falling asleep in front of the TV of an evening.
Ayway, more interesting (I hope) ... I aim to announce our next book/s in around two/three weeks.
Cheers, Robert.

DARK SHADOWS FALL - UPDATE
It's just a month since I announced the publication of Dark Shadows Fall by Mark Nicholls and, already, all copies of the originally projected print run of 150 have SOLD. I will now (probably) increase the run to 175 so if you are thinking about ordering this one then please e-mail and reserve your copy NOW to avoid potential disappointment. I'm planning to send the book to the printer by (or around) the last week of February at which time the run will be fixed. On target, therefore, for a late March or (more likely) early April publication.
Cheers, Robert.
