SLAVER HEAP ~ UPDATED NEWS

As many of you probably know, I was expecting the delivery of Slaver Heap from my printers on the 3 June 2013.
However, my book printer had, unbeknown to me, been experiencing severe financial difficulties and they (MPG Print Group Limited) have now gone into administration.
Many apologies, but I have been somewhat in limbo for a while ~ not sure what stage of print production had been reached or if I’d have to get Slaver Heap printed with a new book printer.
This inevitably delayed publication somewhat.
I’d like to personally thank all those customers who pre-ordered Slaver Heap and who have been brilliantly and wonderfully patient while things work themselves out.
The book is currently with a new printer (Berforts Information Press Limited) and, if all goes to plan, I expect delivery so as to be able to post out orders in mid September.

Thanks, Robert.

SLAVER HEAP ~ UPDATE

I was expecting the delivery of Slaver Heap from our printers on the 3 June.
However, my book printer has been experiencing difficulties and I've not received the book or, as yet, a clear indication of what's happening.
News stories about possible administration for the printers are widely circulating ...
Sorry, but this has inevitably delayed publication somewhat.
I am somewhat in limbo ~ not sure what stage of print production had been reached or if I'll have to get Slaver Heap printed with a new book printer.
I'm hoping the situation will become altogether clearer shortly …
Please bear with me everyone for a few weeks until I can let everyone know what's happening.

Many apologies, Robert.

NEW TITLE FOR MAY 2013

Slaver Heap (a Gothic Novel) by Albert Power

From SAROB PRESS and hot on the heels of Not to be Taken at Bed-Time & Other Strange Stories (volume 8 in Richard Dalby's Mistresses of the Macabre series) by Rosa Mulholland (a very few copies still available) comes a one-off special visit to a dark and Gothic past ...
Albert Power is the author of Mad Matinée in Baku (Passport Levant, 2010). He has also edited and introduced volumes for The Swan River Press, Dublin.
Slaver Heap is the author’s first novel and is a return to the Gothic Romance as written by Radcliffe, Lewis and Maturin. The story presents a near-complete verity in regard to history, language, court procedures, composition and setting ~ here, then, is a true “Gothic” delight ... wild picturesque landscapes, a dark mysterious castle, beautiful heroines, evil villains and a hero (of sorts) ~ all with the brooding menace of the ‘supernatural’ Skelochar lurking mysteriously and adding to a heady and macabre mix set in the Ireland of the 1720s.
Limited Numbered Edition Hardcover. (vi+148pp)
Printed Boards. Cream Bookwove.
Wrap Cover Art by Paul Lowe.

Publication scheduled for the end of May 2013.

PRICES (inclusive of Postage & Packing from within the UK for pre-publication orders as shown)
UK: UK £28.00 (2nd Class Post)
Europe: 35,00 euros (Air Mail)
USA & Rest of World: US $49.50 (Surface Mail) or US $52.50 (Air Mail ~ Extra Charge for Air Mail)

BOOK OF SHADOWS SOLD OUT & NEWS

The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Shadows is now SOLD OUT.
Thanks everyone for making this our most popular title to date.
The book has been so well received that editor Rosemary Pardoe and I have decided to produce a follow-up volume in 2014 (as long as we can achieve the same standard of stories).
Rosemary has just announced a call for submissions in the recently published issue (number 23) of The Ghosts & Scholars M.R. James Newsletter (a great journal that I can't recommend highly enough for fans of James and ghostly fiction in general).
The deadline for submissions is to be 31 January 2014.
The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Shadows contents were inspired by eleven of M.R. James' ghost stories and Rosemary and I are looking for prequels/sequels to the remaining twenty two.
These are:
“Lost Hearts” “The Ash Tree” “Number 13” “Count Magnus” “The Rose Garden” “The Tractate Middoth” “The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral” “Martin's Close” “Mr Humphreys and His Inheritance” “The Residence at Whitminster” “The Diary of Mr Poynter” “An Episode of Cathedral History” “The Story of a Disappearance and an Appearance” “The Haunted Doll's House” “The Uncommon Prayer-Book” “A Neighbour's Landmark” “A View from a Hill” “A Warning to the Curious” “An Evening's Entertainment” “There was a Man Dwelt by a Churchyard” “Rats” and “After Dark in the Playing Fields”
Any submission which is just a revamp or parody of the plot of the original story is unlikely to be selected. We are looking for something more original than that and there is no rule that the story must be in the James tradition itself. Rosemary will not look kindly on stories which have been simultaneously submitted elsewhere ~ word count up to the authors (within reason).
Submissions preferred by email attachment in Word or RichText format to Rosemary at pardos@globalnet.co.uk
Good Luck.
Cheers, Robert.

NEW TITLE UPDATE

Our next title, Not to be Taken at Bed-Time & Other Strange Stories by Rosa Mulholland is with our printer and pre-publication orders should be shipping within the next 10-14 days.
I hope to announce details of our one-off special May 2013 title, Slaver Heap by Albert Power, very shortly ~ watch this space!
Already being worked on for later this year are two really terrific supernatural/ghostly collections which I'm pretty sure will appeal greatly to all our readers.
Cheers, Robert.
